Hooked JC

At first, Hooked - a seafood spot in Bergen-Lafayette - does a good impression of a Cape Cod seafood shack. The fish available on any given day are listed on a chalkboard sign out front, and they’re offered blackened, fried, or grilled. The bar room up front and casual dining room in the back are covered in nets, anchors, and giant fake fish. But you’re quickly reminded that you aren’t in a beach town as soon as you start eating. The overseasoned monkfish is too rubbery to cut through, and while you might think that a big side of hushpuppies would at least ensure that you leave feeling full, they’re so dry that even the housemade dipping sauces don’t help.
