Gran Sasso is Italian place in Williamsburg, but it isn’t sceney. It’s more old-school than that. The food is traditional, the inside looks like your standard neighborhood Italian spot, and you’ll probably see the owner walking around saying hi to everyone. Also, the food is pretty solid. They make their own pasta, and there’s a big oven up front, so everyone can see how pizzas are born. It’s just a little too expensive to be a weeknight dinner spot, but if you’re going out with a large group, there’s plenty of space. The menu is also pretty big, with some pizza, pasta, and a few more interesting things like asparagus flan. So stop by the next time you need somewhere that isn’t too loud or cramped or full of people who look like they definitely did not wake up like that. Your parents would like this place.
