An indoor/outdoor bar and restaurant with solid cocktails and a big, random menu (tuna tartare tacos, burgers, quinoa salad, pot pie) that we’re not mad about. Like all good Bushwick spots, the atmosphere is industrial yet homey, and feels like the kind of place where you can just sit and hang for a while.

A nice, big Bushwick restaurant with interesting pastas. It's not quite a destination, but it's a nice addition to the neighborhood.
La Isla Cuchifritos
We love La Isla Cuchifritos for the fact that a) it’s cheap and delicious, and b) it sort of feels like you’re grubbing in tropical Puerto Rico rather than not-so-tropical Brooklyn.

The Smith is a chain restaurant that started in the East Village, and it’s sort of like a mid-tier sedan. Not too flashy, but it gets the job done.
No, it’s not a bowling alley in Times Square. It’s the 25-year-old Keith McNally restaurant that’s way more fun than Balthazar.
A classic New York City gem, still standing from a time when horse and buggies were bringing people here to drink. Eat the chicken club sandwich, drink a Stella from the tap, and imagine that you're about to head off for a sweet vacation aboard the Titanic.
