Sometimes you just need a regular bar. A place where you can fit a few of you, for a last-minute hang, where some people can drink wine and some people can have cocktails and others can have beer. It sounds like a simple idea, but the regular bar is a rarity. Drexler’s is one of them, and it’s great for work drinks, friend group drinks, first date drinks - most regular situations. And probably some irregular ones too.

Rai Rai Ken
There’s plenty of ramen in the East Village these days, and no shortage of opinions on where to go. We happen to believe that Rai Rai Ken sits near the top of the heap, mostly because that shoyu ramen is so good, but also because it’s inexpensive and simple.
Sushi By M
Sushi By M is a no-frills spot in the East Village where you sit at a counter and eat an excellent 10-piece sushi omakase for $50.
Death & Co
Death & Co. feels like it was built just for us. The drink list is ridiculous…it’s nearly impossible to settle on something because each beverage is intriguing and awesome. And thankfully the food doesn’t suck either.
Suggested by our writers
Kingston Hall is a vaguely Caribbean-themed bar in the East Village with pool tables, an indoor/outdoor patio, and a decent selection of bar food.
