When we eat a vegan croissant, we usually say, “That’s pretty good, but we still miss the butter.” But we don’t say that at Clementine. This bakery and cafe in Clinton Hill serves a full range of sweets like cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and donuts, but the best items are the flaky things (the pain au chocolat and the chocolate banana kouign-amann, for example). For something savory, get the BEC breakfast taco on a burrito-size flour tortilla—a great deal at $6—or the crispy buffalo cauliflower with a tasty dill ranch sauce. There are no tables inside, but there’s plenty of outdoor seating, which is always shaded because of the big trees on Greene Avenue.
