Chao Thai

8503 Whitney Ave, Elmhurst

Chao Thai is a tiny cash-only spot in Elmhurst where the tables are decorated with seashells, sand, and, in one case, a cutout of a dolphin filled with glitter. These details aren’t especially important, but, at the same time, we’d really like to sit at that dolphin table. This is one of the best Thai spots not just in Elmhurst, but the entire city, and it’s casual enough for a solo meal on Tuesday night when you don't particularly feel like talking to anyone. But bring a friend or two. You’ll want to share some stuff, like the crispy duck salad, and the sour sausage tossed with crispy rice, lime juice, peanuts, and several other delicious things.
