Where we've featured it
For anyone who remembers the Cha Chan Tang space on Mott Street in Chinatown, know that it’s transforming into a two-story space with a late-night Chinese diner upstairs and a sushi bar on the ground floor. Cha Kee is owned by the same team who runs Basement (the bar next door where grown-ups sometimes play glow-in-the-dark beer pong). The team is planning on opening an izakaya above Basement later this fall as well. Reservations for their soft open are currently available.
One of the fall openings we were excited about, Cha Kee, has finally opened in Chinatown. From sweet and sour pork belly to dan dan noodles made with ramen and a runny egg yolk, Cha Kee is serving a menu of Japanese and Cantonese mashup dishes. The head chef used to work at Mission Chinese Food, and you should look for an all-day menu of comfort food options at this new place on Mott Street.
