Candle Cafe has been doing upscale vegan food for a lot longer than all the new trendy spots around town have been doing upscale vegan food. And their Candle 79 location (they also have another UES location as well as an UWS spot) is comfortable in the way you imagine that most fancy apartments in this part of town are comfortable. If you live in the area, they also do an excellent (albeit pricey) takeout operation.
