Brooklyn Hots
The garbage plate is a Rochester delicacy that involves a bunch of seemingly random things tossed on a plate with some sauce on top. If you’re looking for one in NYC, head to Brooklyn Hots. At this Clinton Hill BYOB, you can choose two proteins (hamburger, chicken, sausage, etc.), then pick a few sides like home fries or macaroni salad, and get everything smothered in meat sauce and mustard. The garbage plates (called “trash plates” here) are massive and chaotic, and they’re best enjoyed alongside a crisp natural wine from Radicle Wine, the shop next door. Brooklyn Hots also serves hot dogs, sandwiches, and saucy cheeseburgers covered in pickles, in case you’d like something other than a messy pile of meat, carbs, and more meat.
