169 Bar has been open since 1916, although we assume their leopard-print pool table arrived sometime in the 70’s. Actually, most of the decor seems to be from this period, and it all seems to have come from a yard sale. And that’s part of what makes this place a classic. It’s unpretentious, there are plenty of places to sit, and it’s far enough south that it doesn’t get too packed like other LES bars. All that, and you can text a drink order from your table. This place is a good and weird time, every time.
