Flatiron
Flatiron
Page 2Almayass
We’re not exactly sure that New York City was in desperate need of an Armenian/Lebanese restaurant, but this stateside opening of Almayass, a Beirut-based establishment with locations across the Middle East, is very exciting for at least three or four of us here.
Mari Vanna
Mari Vanna is a Russian restaurant in Flatiron that looks like a grandmother’s house but feels like a party.
Sushi By Bou
Sushi By Bou is a hidden sushi spot in Flatiron where you can have a 12-course omakase for $50, in 30 minutes flat.
Daily Provisions
We wish there was a Daily Provisions on every corner, so that we would never be far from their excellent breakfast and lunch.
Boqueria
The Flatiron location of this Spanish tapas chain has a casual space that’s good for groups.
Eataly: La Birreria
We didn't see it coming, but we actually really dig the beer garden on the roof of Eataly. You’ll be hard pressed to find one with a larger variety of good things to eat, and the crowd is much more pleasant up here than in the tourist packed insanity that exists underneath it.
Barbounia
Barbounia is definitely not our jam. It’s way too expensive for what they’re serving, and the grandiose and gaudy decor makes it feel like some sort of vaguely Mediterranean performance hall. Like at any moment one of the bus boys might start juggling.
Nur
Nur is a Middle Eastern restaurant in Flatiron where you can eat excellent breads and creative dishes.
Shake Shack
I once saw a man at Shake Shack, dressed in a suit and setting a formal table. On the small metal table he placed a white tablecloth, fine silverware, a candle, and some flowers. For a moment, I was overcome with joy at the beautiful event that was about to unfold before me...this man was about to propose to a burger.
Harding's
Harding's has a pretty solid menu. Even so, the space is so massive that heading to the bathroom from your table is like packing up and heading west on the Oregon Trail. We'd rather head somewhere a little more intimate than a giant Americana version of Planet Hollywood.
Novita
If you live in the neighborhood, Novita is a nice local hang with great service and reasonable food; we just wouldn't recommend going out of your way for it.
ABC Kitchen
After five years in business, ABC Kitchen is still pretty. But after a recent change in chef, the food is just pretty good.
Hill Country Chicken
With so many incredible fried chicken options around these days, this isn’t one to go out of your way for.
Cote
This Korean barbecue place in Flatiron looks kind of like a nightclub and serves some high-quality beef. They also do a great prix fixe.
ABC Cocina
ABC Cocina is the Flatiron-located, Latin-inspired sequel to ABC Kitchen, and it’s better than the original.
Hawksmoor NYC
Hawksmoor on Park Avenue and 22nd Street is a London steakhouse with an upscale take on traditional British food.
