You’re probably reading this because you can’t imagine starting another morning with overnight oats, cereal, or eggs in any form - and you shouldn’t have to. Whether you prefer your brunches bottomless or would give up drinking entirely if it meant you never had to drink Prosecco with breakfast, we can all appreciate a morning meal that didn’t come from a carton or cardboard box. Show the most important meal of the day some respect, and order brunch from the great places on this guide.

Formerly a bagel pop-up inside Paulie Gee’s, Edith’s has officially opened a permanent location in Williamsburg. The new sandwich counter has an expanded menu, including everything from smoked brisket pastrami on rye and a bagel BEC with latkes, to raspberry-rosewater croissants and chicken schnitzel pitas. But if you plan on staying your pajamas (read: five-year-old sweats) all day, just order Edith’s for delivery. Their shop takes online orders Thursday-Sunday, which means you can have a top-notch Brooklyn bagel brunch experience without having to wait in line.

From the BEC on a soft scallion milk bun to the buttery tuna melt on rye filled with salt and vinegar chips (we stand by tuna as a breakfast staple), the diner riffs at this tiny spot in Two Bridges make the original versions taste like they’re missing something. Nearly everything on the menu at Golden Diner has Korean, Japanese, Thai, or Chinese influences and you can’t go wrong with any order - even if you aren’t placing it from one of the swivel stools facing the open kitchen inside.

Maybe watching You’ve Got Mail has you feeling nostalgic about ’90s New York or maybe you just want a plate of smoked fish to go with your eggs this morning - either way you should know that UWS icon Barney Greengrass is open for breakfast and brunch delivery. Get the sturgeon or smoked salmon, and there should probably be some bagels in the mix as well. Whatever you decide, call them at 212-724-4707 to order.

Order brunch from this meditteranean spot in Fort Greene if you want more than just a BEC or a ham and cheese omelette. They have things like whipped ricotta, hummus with lamb, and za’atar-crusted salmon on their takeout menu. If you’re in Brooklyn, this is a great option for a ball-out brunch at home.

For some of the best soul food brunch options in the city, get takeout from Melba’s. If Ambien were a comfort food, it would be the chicken and eggnog waffles from this Halem spot. The food is so good, you need a two-hour nap to fully appreciate its glory Get the mac and cheese, wine-braised short ribs, and at least three other things that jump out from the page at you.

There’s a good chance you’ve been missing potato pancakes, pierogies, and blintzes in your life. Let Veselka change that. This classic East Village spot has Ukrainian dishes you’re probably used to eating inside their 24 hour diner available for takeout and delivery. So rather than eating across from a guy who could pass as a grown-up cast member from Skins, you can enjoy this spot from your couch.

You can pick up some perfectly chewy bagels from this little window on Westchester Avenue in Pelham Bay. And according to the long, socially distanced lines we’ve seen outside the shop via Instagram, Empire Bagels is just as popular as always. So come early - if you show up later than 11am, they might be out of your favorite bagel.

Unlike most Brooklyn coffee shops, this one in Prospect Heights has all of the food motivation you need to get you out of bed. From the prosciutto, egg, and cheese to muffins that taste better than whatever the “Muffin Man” is whipping up right now, the menu at Ciao Gloria is full of stuff you’ll actually want to order.

Why eat a store bought bagel when both the LES and Navy Yard locations of Russ & Daughters are open for carryout? All you have to do is call in advance to place your lox and schmear order over the phone, and if you’d prefer delivery, you can order from their Jewish Museum store. Also - Russ & Daughters ships care packages nationwide, and your friend in Kansas City could really use a break from Thomas’ cranberry bagels right now.

Fresh bread is really having a moment right now. But even if you haven’t mastered the perfect loaf, you can pick one up from this Clinton Hill spot. Otway’s pick up window is open every weekend, and in addition to fresh bread, they’re selling pastries, wine, and coffee. Be sure to stop by the next time you feel like taking a Sunday stroll down Fulton Street.

Sable’s, a classic UES deli that specializes in smoked fish, is offering pickup and delivery starting at 8:30am daily. And just in case a brunch spread of caviar, smoked salmon, lobster salad, bagels, babka, and sturgeon within NYC isn’t enough, they also ship nationwide. Order online or call 212-249-6177 to order.

Miriam makes some excellent brunch dishes like burekas and fried eggplant sandwiches. And while you’d usually have to wait in line to eat at this Israeli spot in Park Slope, a simple scroll and a few finger taps is all it takes to get them delivered straight to your door these days. You can also get frozen pita and cheese burekas to snack on later.

It’s probably been a few months since you’ve read the phrase “fruit reduction” on a brunch menu. So you should take some time to reflect on brunches past as you read details about La Flor’s vanilla french toast. It’s one of their daily breakfast options, all of which are available for pick up and delivery from 9am to 2pm. You can also get huevos rancheros, frittatas, and a basket of breakfast pastries.

If you live in PLG, you’ve probably been splitting your time between your work desk, your kitchen, and Prospect Park for the last few weeks. Add Edie Jo’s into the mix for breakfast options like a sausage, egg, and cheese or a plate of french toast that your roommate hasn’t burned. They’re offering weekend brunch delivery and takeout from 10am to 2pm and they won’t judge you for getting bottled negroni before noon on a Sunday.
