The weather is getting warmer and you probably want an excuse to leave your apartment this weekend. That’s why we’re highlighting a couple of particularly exciting pop-ups that are only around for a certain time. For more ongoing pop-ups around NYC, check out our guide to the newest projects.

Chef Kia Damon is cooking a pop-up dinner at Winona’s in Williamsburg on Sunday April 4th, and Monday April 5th as part of Ediciones Project’s month-long residency at the restaurant. This marks the latest event for Chef Kia Damon’s Kia Feeds The People mutual aid project, which provides food and support to Black and QTPOC communities in Brooklyn. You can book a table ahead of time on Resy.
Pecking House’s chili fried chicken is so delicious that it has its own waitlist (just ask Staff Writer Nikko Duren - they were on it for two months before trying the mouth-numbing, Taiwanese hot chicken marvel). From now until April 9th, Pecking House is running a raffle for two waitlist fast-passes to collect funds for Heart Of Dinner - a non-profit providing free meals and human connectivity to Asian elders in NYC. Raffle tickets each cost $5 (you can enter as many as you want) and all transactions are happening via Venmo. Check out Pecking House’s Instagram post for more details.

The Hit List: New NYC Restaurants To Try Right Now
The possibility of getting free things from Wildair might be enough to sell you on this, but allow us to elaborate. The coffee roaster, Parlor Coffee, is setting up shop on Orchard Street on the Lower East Side on Saturday, April 3rd with complimentary coffee and pastries from Wildair. You can stop by from 11:30am-4pm.
If your go-to date idea typically involves seeing a movie, and then talking about that movie over dinner and/or drinks, try Drule’s free comedy night at Fette Sau this week. This Williamsburg BBQ spot is hosting a stand-up show in their backyard featuring mostly women comedians on Thursday, April 1st. You can reserve a spot here. We’re fans of almost anything that comes out of Mama’s Too on the UWS, which is why we’ve been particularly excited about their Wednesday sandwich special over the last few months. It rotates every week, and this go-around is a chicken cutlet with vodka sauce, pesto, and stracciatella on puffy focaccia. You can start ordering at noon on Wednesday for pick-up or delivery, or stop by their shop on Broadway between 105th and 106th Streets to place your order in person.

The 21 Best Pizza Places In NYC
We have doughnuts on the brain (which partly explains our guide to the best new doughnuts in NYC). If you relate to this, know that Otway in Clinton Hill just started selling a braided lemon poppy doughnut at their coffee counter.
This Fordham Plaza outdoor food festival starts their season Saturday, April 3rd, with vendors like Gai Chicken & Rice and a Black-owned fashion pin business called Pop Pins. This year, they’re focusing on highlighting even more Bronx-based food and beverage projects (as well as other small businesses) than they have in the past. They’re also asking visitors to reserve free timed tickets online ahead of time, which you can do here.
From Wednesday to Saturday, the chefs behind Eastern European pop-up project, Dacha 46, will be serving a special menu for takeout at Winner on 7th Avenue in Park Slope. They’re selling a $17 set meal that comes with a flatbread stuffed with cumin beef and lamb (you can request a vegetarian option) and a spring salad with little gem lettuce, snap peas, feta, and pistachio oil. But they’ll also have a fried breakfast piroshki filled with mashed potatoes, cheese, and eggs, as well as a dessert special and a bottle of wine to pair with everything. The Best Bakeries in NYC
After running a pop-up series at Vinegar Hill House for the last couple of months, the duo of chefs behind Ha’s Đặc Biệt are now offering their Vietnamese menu for takeout and delivery out of Frenchette’s kitchen in Tribeca every Sunday and Monday, as well as their bánh mì out of Frenchette Bakery every day starting at noon. Anthony Ha and Sadie Mae Burns (who met cooking at Mission Chinese) are selling a la carte appetizers and pavlova cake for dessert, as well as a $40-per-person dinner set that comes complete with lime leaf and lemongrass rotisserie chicken, eggplant that’s been caramelized in fish sauce, and a bunch of sides. In case you want to celebrate the end of March by not cooking dinner, BK9 has a one-night-only fish fry on Friday, April 2nd from 4pm-11pm. This Caribbean restaurant will be serving everything from a jerk shrimp po’ boy to Haitian-style stewed conch, and a snow crab boil. They’re taking reservations for indoor dining and holding tables for outdoor walk-ins, but you can also order frozen drinks and crispy fried seafood for takeout or delivery.
