Over the past month or so, you’ve developed cool new skills like boiling water, burning brussels sprouts, and eating beans out of a can while hoping your couch cushions turn into Steph Curry’s arms. Time to put those hard-earned skills to rest and take a night off with juicy pork rib memelas, chocolate conchas, and al pastor tacos. Here are 28 great NYC Mexican restaurants that are currently open for takeout and delivery.

If you stick your head out the window and shout that you’re looking for Poblano-style food in Manhattan, you’d (sadly) receive nothing but your neighbor’s judgy energy. The answer you’re really looking for is Tuclingo del Valle. This Hell’s Kitchen spot makes excellent cemitas, mole, and juicy pork ribs in pools of salsa verde, and you can place your order directly through their website.

We have fond memories of sitting in Claro’s Gowanus backyard and drinking enough mezcal cocktails to compliment the server on their minimalist-chic jewelry. Even though you can’t do that right now, you can make your own memories on your fire escape while you eat Claro’s pork rib memelas. They’re taking online orders for pick-up and delivery from Wednesday to Saturday.

Much like Cher or aluminum foil, this Oaxacan restaurant in Mott Haven is pretty much good at everything they do. And they’re currently offering takeout and delivery in the South Bronx area (and further if you go through an online platform). You can place your order online or call 718-292-0235. Just make sure to get one of the moles (we especially like the mole Oaxaqueno).

La Mesita

$$$$

Coincidently, “la mesita” is what you’ve been calling the puffy ottoman you’re currently using as a WFH desk. But it’s also the name of a restaurant you should consider ordering from when you want Mexican food in the Ridgewood area. Their burritos, tacos, and tortas are all available for delivery and takeout by calling 718-366-8700 or ordering through their website.

Here’s a simple rule to follow when you order takeout or delivery from the original Taco Mix in East Harlem: you need at least two al pastor tacos. There’s something about these loaded tiny corn tortillas that will make your eyeballs bulge out of your head just a little (enough to feel it but not enough to seek medical guidance). The meat is sweet and juicy, and now that we think about it, two won’t really be enough.

Taqueria Tlaxcali’s massive burritos will shamelessly embarrass the burritos of your past (and certainly the one you tried to make the other day with leftover rotisserie chicken). Aside from their burritos, Taqueria Tlaxcali serves great grilled fish tacos, fajitas, and plates of pork chops with rice and beans. They’re open for takeout and delivery via phone at 347-851-3085 or online.

Chela & Garnacha in Astoria is offering takeout and delivery options online or over the phone at 917-832-6676. Get the masa cakes with shredded chicken and whatever torta makes your arm hair stand up when you read the menu. Also, if you have a second (you do, we know you do), give them a follow on Instagram - this restaurant has better captions than most companies with in-house copywriters.

Amaranto in Bushwick makes some of the very best Mexican food in the city, like their chicken enchiladas covered in mole poblano. Next time you need a pick-me-up in the form of smothered meat, place an order for takeout or delivery online.

We can’t have meet-cutes right now, but if we could, we’d like ours to involve ordering the exact same thing at La Flor De Izucar from our respective apartments. What’s the order, you ask? Let’s have breakfast - how about chilaquiles verdes and a chocolate concha? Everything at this bakery in Sunset Park is available for delivery or takeout, and you can place your order online or by calling 718-633-1254 from 7am to 8pm every day.

Your roommate keeps mentioning steak in your daily recap of last night’s dreams (also Nina Simone and Timothee Chalamet embracing), and now you’re dreaming about steak too. Put an end to the madness and order a ribeye torta or bistec con queso taco from La Esquina’s UES location (and Soho location). All of their dishes and booze are available for delivery and takeout when you order on their website.

Mexico 2000 is offering most of their regular menu for takeout and delivery, and it’s a great option if you’re in Williamsburg and you can’t look at another box of f*cking pasta. You can place your order for things like elote, tamales, and crispy flautas online.

If you’re new to Jajaja land, first of all, welcome. Secondly, the key takeaway is that all of their Mexican food is vegan or vegetarian. The West Village, LES, and Williamsburg locations are open for takeout and delivery every day and you can go online to place your order. And if you’re looking for more vegan and vegetarian options, we have a whole delivery guide dedicated to just that.

Taqueria Diana in the East Village has long provided us comfort in the form of late-night burritos and carnitas tacos. You can still reap the benefits of that comfort, since they’re open for takeout and delivery online (and so are the Williamsburg and Midtown West locations).

Órale! Mexican Kitchen

$$$$

Okay yes, the main reason we’ve gathered you here today is to talk about Mexican takeout, but you should also know that Orale in Jersey City has you covered on drinks. In addition to things like chicken tinga nachos and lamb tacos, they’re serving one-liter vodka tonics, mix and match six-packs of beer, and four different DIY margarita kits. You can get all of it delivered by calling them at 201-333-0001 or going through their website.

Taqueria Downtown makes some of our favorite Mexican food in Jersey City, and if you’d like to see why, consider ordering takeout or delivery from them. There’s a $20 minimum, which just means you’ll have to throw in a milanesa torta or chorizo quesadilla in addition to their excellent $3.75 tacos.

In addition to running a community kitchen that donates meals to healthcare workers, Tacombi’s Nolita location has delivery and takeout that you can order directly through their website.

Taqueria Emilio in Inwood serves everything from chilaquiles for breakfast to churros for dessert (or breakfast-dessert, if you’re so inclined). But during lunch, they have an $8 deal that comes with three big tacos filled with al pastor or tender lengua, plus a soda, with no delivery fee.

This Mexican spot just north of Central Park is doing takeout and delivery through their website or other online platforms, and you can get a platter of 12 tacos of your choosing for $39 (not to mention margaritas to-go).

It’s possible the thing preventing you from ordering Mexican takeout is having to decide between tacos and enchiladas. When you order online from El Patron in PLG, you don’t have to choose a favorite. They have combos in the $15-20 range that involve both (as well as a full menu of burritos, fajitas, and margaritas to-go).

In case you’re looking for more Mexican takeout or delivery in the Bushwick area, another option is Gordo’s. They’re accepting orders online, and they even have a separate vegetarian section of their takeout menu.

This San Francisco-style Mexican restaurant in Prospect Heights has more than 15 burritos on their takeout menu online. And you can think of choosing between them as getting to choose your own horoscope or Buzzfeed quiz result. Let’s face it, the “Naked Veggie Burrito” is a wholly different mood than the extra-large ranchero steak “Que Pasa? Burrito.” We support you no matter what.

Jajaja’s West Village location also has vegetarian and vegan takeout and delivery every day. You can go online to place your order.

In case you’re downtown and not on the UES, all of La Esquina’s dishes and booze are available for delivery and takeout from their Soho location. You can place your order on their website.

If you’re closer to Williamsburg and want takeout from Taqueria Diana, check out their Metropolitan Avenue spot.

Taco Mix’s LES location is also open for takeout and delivery, and the rule about ordering their al pastor tacos still stands.

This Mexican spot on Lenox Avenue is doing takeout and delivery through their website or other online platforms, and you can get a platter of 12 tacos of your choosing for $39 (not to mention margaritas to-go).

For vegan or vegetarian Mexican takeout in North Brooklyn, check out JaJaJa’s takeout menu for their Williamsburg location. They’re open for takeout and delivery every day and you can go online to place your order.

One more Taqueria Diana location, this time in Midtown West. Go get it.
