9 Exciting Things To Do & Eat In NYC Between June 10th-June 13th

Between Brooklyn Pride, Tribeca Film Festival, and weather that necessitates outside time, there’s a ton of fun things to do and eat this week. We curated a list of the most exciting pop-ups, reopenings, and parties happening between June 10th and June 13th. All you need to do is pick which one(s) to go to.

There are a ton of Brooklyn Pride events happening this week (including a 5K in Prospect Park, an outdoor screening of The Princess Bride, and tons of food vendors and activities on Fifth Avenue in Park Slope). Another to take note of: this newly-opened gay bar is hosting a Brooklyn Pride Party on Saturday, June 12th. Drag performers and DJs will be taking over the street in front of the bar, which is closed off to traffic thanks to the open streets program. The Best Things To Do & Eat During Pride Month 2021

To celebrate the Philippines Independence Day, this pop-up project is collaborating with over twenty Filipinx food vendors and musicians on an outdoor market on Allen Street on the Lower East Side. It’s called Barkada Market Market, and you can stop by on Saturday, June 12th, and Sunday, June 13th starting at noon. Check out the list of vendors and location details on Instagram.

Cooper Hewitt’s design museum on East 91st Street - one of our favorite museums in the city - reopened for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic. Even more exciting: admission is free to everyone until October 31st. There’s an exhibit on contemporary Muslim fashion running through the middle of July that’s not to be missed. The Best Restaurants On The Upper East Side

You might already know you like sake, but do you know exactly which variety you like and what season to drink it in? Starting Friday, June 11th, you can sip and learn about sake at a brand new bar on Avenue C in Alphabet City (that took over the Lois space). Accidental Bar’s mission is to teach New Yorkers about sake in the same way they might learn about wine from a tasting - but in a completely casual and fun atmosphere. The new bar is run by Austin Power, a sake sommelier who has been working in the industry for 12 years - and there’s seating available inside and out. You can book a reservation here.

The Fly in Bed-Stuy is where we like to consume roast chicken, fries, and natural wine - and we feel confident you’ll like to consume those things here too. After only operating takeout service for months, The Fly in Bed-Stuy is back this week with indoor and outdoor seating. Meaning you no longer need to exclaim, “I’ll take one whole chicken, please” through your mask.

Tribeca Film Festival is in full swing (both virtually and outdoors), and there are screenings happening everywhere from The Battery to Corona Park and Rockaway Beach. If you’re seeing a film at The Battery oval, check out this excellent new Thai restaurant that’s about a ten-minute walk away.

The Hit List: New NYC Restaurants To Try Right Now

This Harlem bar and venue is hosting a stand-up comedy show on Saturday, June 12th starting at 7pm. The show is inside, and completely free (although there’s a one drink/food minimum). Check out the event’s info page for more details on the comedians performing and show donations.

We understand it’s hard to keep up with the latest thing happening in an obscure warehouse in Bushwick. But we’re here to tell you that “latest thing” is a fantastic Vietnamese and Cambodian restaurant residency at Outerspace. All summer long, pop-up projects Ha’s Đặc Biệt and Kreung will be serving food outside in a backyard space with picnic tables, cocktail pitchers, and psychedelic pop playlist. Bring some friends, and order the minty herb salad topped with roasted peanuts and a half roasted chicken covered in lemongrass-chili juice had us sending impulsive “you need to try this” texts in the middle of dinner. If you want to keep the night going, walk around the corner to Honey’s, a mead bar that always feels like a party.

If you’re paying attention to the UEFA Euros, this Bushwick bar will be showing soccer games on weekdays from noon to midnight, and noon to 4am on weekends. It’s not going to be a casual sports viewing situation. Their Instagram post makes it clear that the game sound will be on. Go team.
