Olmsted Is Launching A New Menu & Other NYC Restaurant News

Between the latest openings and Covid-related disruptions, there’s almost too much to know about New York City’s dining scene right now. We’re here to keep you updated on expansions, closings, and plain old juicy stuff we notice when we’re out doing our jobs. That way you’ll always have something to drop on your friends (because that’s your role in the group text).
Wednesday, January 12th
LES Mediterranean spot Sami & Susu (home to an exceptional beef tongue sandwich) has extended its hours and launched a new dinner service with dishes like beef heart au poivre and cacio e pepe freekeh risotto. There’s also beer and wine.
Olmsted in Prospect Heights recently announced that it will be switching to a tasting menu format starting January 17th. The new menu will be offered for the next few months, and the price will be roughly the same as what you’d currently spend on a dinner at Olmsted.
This week, Chocobar Cortés is donatingall proceeds from its hot chocolate sales to support the victims of the recent fire that occurred in The Bronx. A relief drive has also been started for high-priority items, including gift cards to restaurants, grocery stores, and food delivery services. Go here to see how you can help.
Does the city really need another BEC? If it’s from Mama’s Too, absolutely. Our favorite pizza place on the UWS is now serving a BEC with hash browns on a housemade Italian hero. The sandwich is available for pickup and delivery, and it looks exactly like something we’d like to eat right now.
If you’re planning a trip to Las Vegas, you should know that Peter Luger is, surprisingly, opening anew locationthere at the end of this year. This’ll be the first Peter Luger location outside of New York in the US and the first domestic expansion for this legendary steak house in over 60 years.
Ace’s Perfect Pizza is opening in Midtown, and the hit Philly restaurant Laser Wolf is coming to Williamsburg. Check out the other upcoming NYC openings you should know about right here.
