Hello, and Happy November. As far as we're concerned, it's officially time to set up your "Let's circle back after the holidays" email auto-response and spend your time making elaborate hot chocolates before your morning meeting instead. Of course, some people still insist on being productive, like the folks running the NYC Marathon this Sunday. For those participating, we’re happy for you and hope you enjoy the surge of endorphins. The rest of us will be rooting for you from bed until it's time to increase our own endorphin supply with an all-ube Filipino afternoon tea, some holiday retail therapy, and a sh*t ton of bagels at one of these events.
This Sunday, do something different for brunch and get a bagel flight at Bagel Bash. The $35 ticket includes a mimosa and five unique mini-bagel sandwiches by some of the best bagel shops around the city, including collaborations with Avocaderia and one of our favorites, Ess-A-Bagel. There’ll also be bagel-centric activities—we’re hoping for a bagel ring toss situation—and an appearance from celeb bagel enthusiast Lottie Bedlow of The Great British Baking Show. Buy your tickets here.
If you’ve never had the fluffy, cloud-like fish and chips at Dame—well, it’s really hard to get a reservation, so you probably won’t have that dish anytime soon. But this Saturday, you can get the same flaky fish between some bread with a sticky toffee pudding cruller on the side at Daily Provisions. The collab items will be available at Daily Provisions' West Village location from 5pm to whenever they sell out.
This Friday, TailGate is hosting the first of two Fall Harvest Markets. Head to the outdoor Williamsburg sports bar starting at 5pm for some early holiday shopping, hot cocktails, a taco truck, and a dance floor where you can celebrate the season until 1am. They’ll be doing it all over again on the 11th and 18th if you can’t make this one.
We’ve been really into afternoon tea lately, so we’re extra excited for another addition of The Boiis Co.’s Afternoon Tsaá: All Ube Edition. Alongside your tea, you'll have the opportunity to eat some ube cakes, cream puffs, sticky rice, and more. The event is a collaboration between 13 AAPI businesses, including the Tito Papas pop-up at Breakers, where the event will be held. Pick out your best purple hat to wear, and reserve a tea session for two here.
We’ve been big fans of Spain ever since we found out about their hard pro-nap stance. They also make good wine (the drinking of which precedes many of our own naps). This week, they’re bringing it stateside for Viniesta, a food and wine festival featuring winemakers from Spain that commences on November 8th. To kick it off, Ernesto’s is hosting a dinner on Sunday, Nov. 6th, showcasing Spanish conservas brand Güeyu Mar. Make a reservation to end your week with some food you’ll be dreaming about during your nap on Monday.
