De Blasio Took A Shot Of Sake & Signed A New Executive Order Helping Restaurants Avoid Fines

MEND NYC is a new program to assist restaurant and bar owners mediate disputes between neighbors or landlords.

Last Thursday, Mayor De Blasio signed a new executive order to help restaurant and bar owners mediate disputes between neighbors or landlords.

In a nutshell, MEND NYC prioritizes finding a compromise rather than fining a restaurant over disagreements about noise complaints, trash on the sidewalk, negotiating lease terms, and late rent.

De Blasio signed the order at Moonrise Izakaya on the UWS, where he was also seen taking a sake shot, and calling it “smooth.”

You can read more details about the new mediation guidelines on the official page here, and stay in the loop about how the city’s restaurants are impacted by local government by signing up for our newsletter here.
