Mayfair Grill
$$$$
This Southwestern restaurant is inside Coconut Grove’s beautifully renovated Mayfair hotel. The menu has some hits, like a tasty aguachile with tiger shrimp, watermelon, and pops of pomegranate. But their $21 cheese dip is disappointing and too basic. And the amount of chile in dishes like the chorizo flatbread and Sonoran bravas is overwhelming—which is a shame because those bravas are so crispy and crunchy. But at least the dining room has a cool mid-century modern aesthetic and smells like grilled meats and vegetables. They have a lovely indoor/outdoor situation within the atrium of the hotel too. Still, the food just doesn’t make this a place worth going out of your way for.
