Taberu is a modern Japanese spot in Arts District that serves comfort foods like juicy, shio koji-marinated karaage, mayo-drizzled pork and cabbage omelets, and various grilled skewers like bacon-wrapped mushrooms and wagyu topped with uni. If you agree that all of these things sound great with a drink, Taberu’s beverage menu happens to be very long (nearly twice as long as the food), with Japanese craft beers, wine, sake by the glass, and fruit-flavored sake jellies that the menu says “has supplements good for your skin.” The best cocktails, however, are the super refreshing sours that mix soda, shochu, and your choice of frozen fruit, which slowly melts into the ice-cold sparkling beverage.
