Lulu is finally here, the Hammer Museum’s latest restaurant and star chef Alice Waters’ first new opening since Chez Panisse. If you’re not familiar, you’ve got some reading to do (also we love this cookbook, but Waters is generally credited with bringing the farm-to-table movement to California, encouraging folks to eat what grows from the earth, etc, etc. And Lulu is no exception. Open for lunch to start, Lulu offers an a la carte menu as well as a three-course prix-fixe including dishes like garden lettuce with goat cheese, California halibut carpaccio with Meyer lemon, and lamb tagine with saffron couscous.
