L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele

(323) 366-2408

1534 N McCadden Pl

Los Angeles, CA 90004

There can never be enough good upscale dinner options in Hollywood, and the tourist-swarmed neighborhood just got another one in L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele. Located on a quiet side street a few blocks from Hollywood and Highland, L’Antica is the first US location of an Italian pizzeria that’s been cranking out Neapolitan-style pizza since 1870. And while the pies are why you come here (the margherita and bianca are our early favorites), it’s the space - complete with a full fireplace and giant back patio - that’ll make you stay and hang out every night this summer.

L’Antica is only a few blocks from the manic energy of Hollywood and Highland, but their sprawling back patio - with exposed brick walls, string lights, and a legitimate mini-forest - feels like a completely different universe. And when you’re trying to get a bunch of friends together in the middle of Hollywood, that’s exactly what you want. That and a bunch of fantastic Neapolitan-style pizzas that everybody can share - something L’Antica also has going for it. If you want to add some other plates to the table, go for the calamari or squash blossoms. Otherwise, just do what we do, and order another pizza.

Located on a quiet side street a few blocks from Hollywood and Highland, this upscale pizzeria feels a world away from the chaotic neighborhood it resides in. While we’d come here regardless for the excellent Neapolitan pizza (the place has been cranking out pies in Italy since 1870), the incredible back patio is the reason we’ll stay and hang out all night. With red brick walls, string lighting, a full fireplace, and enough trees to qualify as a miniature forest, this sprawling space has all the features you want in a great patio, but it’s the glass window that peers into the pizza kitchen that takes it to a whole different level.

This is the first US location of the Naples original - made famous in Eat Pray Love - and they’re serving Neapolitan-style pies, along with taglieri and salads. It’s right in the heart of Hollywood and Highland, but has a big patio set back from the neighborhood craziness. No word if Julia Roberts has a residency here.
