Elio's Wood Fire Pizza is temporarily closed

LA’s best new pizza spot is operating out of a liquor store parking lot in Silver Lake. Elio’s Wood Fire Pizza sets up shop in the same lot on Sunset every night, with some picnic tables, a mobile fridge full of toppings, and a wood-fired pizza oven in the back of an early-aughts Chevy Silverado. The cheese pizza is $10 (and comes with fresh basil), and it’s $1 per topping after that. Our favorite toppings were sausage, pepper, and onion - the spicy sausage is excellent, and the vegetables complement them well. As for the dough - it’s springy, chewy, flavorful, and perfectly blistered in all the ways you want wood-fired pizza to be. Head here now before the line goes all the way to Echo Park.

Pizzeria Mozza

Mozza is a classic, Mozza can be very useful, but despite whatever your in-flight airline magazine’s “Spotlight on Los Angeles” says, Pizzeria Mozza in Hancock Park just isn’t the best of the best anymore.
