Checker Hall is a new bar in Highland Park that’s exactly where you should be planning your next big group bar outing. Located on the second floor of a former Masonic Lodge, the space is really just one giant room with big booths and a triangular bar in the middle. But the crowd is low-key, the cocktails are fantastic, and if you get hungry, there’s a solid food menu. It also has a great balcony overlooking Figueroa, and a separate live music venue in the back.

The West End
The West End might not look like much from the outside, but it remains one of our go-to cocktail bars in Westwood.
Augustine Wine Bar
Augustine in Sherman Oaks is the kind of wine bar that makes other wine bars look like they're phoning it in.
Suggested by our writers
You’d think that a place like Bar Covell that so thoroughly holds your hand through the ordering process would feel a bit condescending. But as much as LA pretends not to need it, the crowd at Covell every night proves otherwise.
The Museum of Jurassic Technology
The rooftop tearoom at the Museum of Jurassic Technology is one of LA’s best - and least well-known - patios.
