Bread Head
We sound like a talent agent who just discovered a budding star, but Bread Head has star power. After operating as a pop-up for a few years, this excellent sandwich counter is finally expanding into a brick-and-mortar in Santa Monica. For now, you can get their sandwiches at JuneShine on Main Street, where they come on crackly, housebaked focaccia. They’re on the smaller and thinner side but hit you with big punches of flavor like garlic mayo and fresh horseradish. The menu is a short list of six sandwiches, but our pick is the salty muffuletta with a medley of cured meat, sharp provolone, and a layer of olive salad that soaks into the focaccia’s crevices.
