Bardonna
How do you know when a piece of internet slang is dead? A good indicator might be when a restaurant starts using it on its menu. Bardonna, another Santa Monica cafe jumping on the healthy-things-in-bowls trend, features “Squad Bowls,” “Sand Wizards,” and other harbingers of the apocalypse.
Those who don’t run instantly after reading the dish names (and who are okay with forking over $14 for a bowl of quinoa) will find that the food is fresh, but not incredibly flavorful. If you just started the Whole30 diet and need somewhere to eat after your mid-afternoon Meditation for Weight Loss class, you’ve been going to Bardonna since it opened and don’t need this review. For everyone else, this is where you can eat an overpriced bowl of kale and feel marginally healthy.
