Cooking a Thanksgiving meal for a crowd, let alone two people, can quickly spiral into a gravy-splattered disaster or potential fire hazard if you forget that casserole in the oven. In other words, it's a lot of stress and work. Arguably too much work. That's why dessert should be the last thing to worry about, especially with so many great bakeries and pie-specialist restaurants in LA. Here’s our picks on where to pick up pie this Thanksgiving.

THE SPOTS
The Silver Lake daytime spot is taking preorders for its signature crumbly pies this Thanksgiving, including classic flavors like pumpkin and apple crumble and more creative spins like purple yam with a chamomile coconut cream topping.

For those looking to skip the classic pumpkin pie this year, Republique has a new pumpkin cheesecake available for preorder. But, of course, all the usual flavors will be available to reserve at the Hancock Park restaurant starting November 7th: pumpkin, pecan, and apple, along with vanilla whipped cream for an additional price.

Gjusta has two Thanksgiving pies that you’ll need to preorder by November 14th: an apple crumble pie and a Marina di Chioggia pumpkin pie (which we recently learned means fancy heirloom sea pumpkin. They also come in a reusable glass pan as a bonus gift. There you'll have the option to can your pie with zhuzhed up creams as well, including crème anglaise, spiced crème fraîche, and vanilla whipped cream.

Superba is taking pie preorders at all four locations through November 17th or until sold out, so get ’em while you can. Choose between honey-crisp apple, pumpkin with pumpkin spiced whipped cream, and classic pecan.

The popular Los Feliz restaurant launched its Thanksgiving menu for preorder on November 1st, and dinner items are going fast. Their seasonal desserts, however, are still up for grabs and include a brown butter pumpkin pie and a cane syrup pecan pie.
Akasha in Culver City has a great a la carte Thanksgiving menu that includes some very tasty-looking pies. The current flavors for preorder are pumpkin, chocolate pecan, and honey-crisp apple with brown butter crumble. Orders are open until November 16th, with gluten-free apple and pumpkin pies also available.

If you're in need of a gluten-free dessert this year, Breadblok in Santa Monica is your spot. They're taking preorders for their beautiful apple crumble tartlets (made with vegan shortbread), pecan pies, and pumpkin pies topped with whipped cream.

The Apple Pan is a Westside institution that sells a legendary banana cream pie, and it's available for preorder now through November 20th or until they sell out. There are also plenty of other pies to choose from, like apple, pumpkin, and boysenberry cream.
The Pacific Palisades bakery is taking preorders for its grain-free, dairy-free, refined sugar-free, keto, and paleo pies this Thanksgiving (yes, they're all of those things). This includes their seasonal vegan apple crumble pie, which also comes in a pumpkin version if that's your flavor of choice. Get these seasonal pies now through December 31st, with nationwide shipping also available.

The popular Baldwin Hills shop is taking preorders for its southern-style desserts like sweet potato pie, pecan pie, and the ultra-rich combo known as sweet potato-pecan with a buttery crust.

The Thai Town daytime spot has a Thanksgiving special available for pick-up on November 23rd. Apart from a full-on turkey feast, the menu features classic pies like pumpkin and pecan, as well as heirloom apple and chocolate chess options.
Head to the historic 27th Street Bakery in South LA for their popular sweet potato pie, available now in full-size and mini versions.

The Santa Monica cafe is taking preorders for its organic pumpkin and double-crust apple pies through November 17th, with a "take & bake" option if you want to pull it out fresh from the oven at home.
We think ice cream desserts shouldn't be solely reserved for warm months and Sweet Rose Creamery agrees. Starting now through November 24th, the Santa Monica ice cream shop is taking preorders for Thanksgiving ice cream pies, including apple with apple ice cream and salty crumble pecan, and a pecan pie with brown sugar ice cream and chocolate fudge. Available for pick-up and delivery.

McConnell’s is offering their beloved ice cream pies this year, each pie made with a salted brown butter shortbread cookie crust, then filled with their signature pumpkin pie ice cream, and topped with pecan pralines and a salted caramel sauce. Pies are 11” and are now available to preorder.
Winston Pies is now taking preorders at its Brentwood and West Hollywood locations. Choose from classic pumpkin, mixed berry, chocolate chess, and Carolina cherry, to name just a few flavors. There are limited slots for delivery, and bake-at-home pies are also available for pick-up between November 14-16th.
The Echo Park shop is taking preorders for its seasonal (and very pretty) pumpkin pie that gets generously sprinkled with grated nutmeg. Available for pick-up and delivery through Thanksgiving.

This classic Pasadena diner is known for its burgers, fries, and rotating menu of seasonal fruit pies. However, their classic apple, pumpkin, and pecan flavors are available year-round for pick-up.
The vegan ice cream shop in Hollywood is taking preorders for plant-based pies until November 20th. This year’s featured flavor is Turtle Cheesecake Ice Cream pie, made with cheesecake ice cream, chocolate-covered roasted pecans, and swirls of chocolate sauce and caramel syrup. These pies are gluten and dairy-free, and available for nationwide shipping, too.

Your family might be happy if you just brought a bag of sweet rolls to dinner (or showed up on time for once), but you can also stop by the King’s Hawaiian restaurant and bakery in Torrance for unique pies, including chocolate haupia, apple, custard, key lime, and banana mac berry, as well as fresh fruit tarts and cakes. Pickup orders must be placed at least 24 hours in advance, online or over the phone.

In collaboration with sibling cocktail bar Bolita, Silver Lake Cuban spot Café Tropical is offering boozy cocktail-inspired pies for pickup this holiday season. Along with classic pumpkin, they've got espresso martini, daiquiri, negroni, piña colada pies, as well as an "old fashioned" dark chocolate pecan pie. Order online or via phone for pickup on November 23rd or 24th.
Preorders for Thanksgiving pies are now live at all Tartine locations, and according to their website, quantities are limited (so place your order ASAP). The current selection includes a classic pumpkin pie, an apple pie with a dutch crumb topping, and a chocolate rye pecan tart. Orders are available for pick-up starting November 22nd.

Rori’s is taking preorders for their limited edition ice cream pies until November 21st, including a maple pecan pie with maple pecan ice cream, molasses orange whipped cream, and caramel drizzle. There’s also a cinnamon pumpkin pie with pumpkin pie ice cream and marzipan pumpkin toppings for a nice decorative touch. These chilled pies are available for pick-up at all Rori stores across SoCal.
The Culver City restaurant is taking preorders for Thanksgiving pies for pick-up on November 23rd, including a pecan and bourbon pie and a pumpkin pie with a dose of rum. And if you want an even boozier addition to your Thanksgiving dinner, add one of their wax-sealed bottles of pre-mixed Old Fashioneds.
