Looking to purchase gifts while also supporting LA restaurants? Well, you’re in the right place.
The Ultimate Infatuation LA Gift Guide image

There’s never been a more important time to support LA restaurants - many of which are facing uncertain futures in the wake of immobilizing shelter-in-place orders, shifting regulations and requirements, strict health code guidelines, and whatever else Eric Garcetti decides to do today. Oh, and on a completely different note, it’s also the holidays, and you’re probably going to be buying something for someone.

Enter: The Ultimate Infatuation LA Gift Guide. From rare coffee subscriptions and super-special cookbooks to fruit-shaped weed pipes and the kinkiest wine box in the city, this collection features 60 great gift ideas, curated by The Infatuation for everyone - and we mean everyone - on your list. Happy shopping.

For the at-Home Chef

Sandwiches

East Hollywood

$$$$Perfect For:Breakfast
Earn 3x points with your sapphire card

Hot Sauce, $11

Before she started serving breakfast sandwiches via bucket-and-pulley, Calabama’s Cara Haltiwanger was perfecting her hot sauce. The end result is a flavorful (but still plenty spicy) mix of peppers and garlic. Sufficed to say, she nailed it.

Barbecue Box, $48

We once again risk running afoul of the Arby’s legal team by saying this, but Destroyer has the meats. This incredible box has everything one could need for a BBQ, including boneless angus striplion, organic brisket, dry herb rub, fleur de sel, and homemade BBQ sauce.

The Ramen Set, $96

Whether your friend is an expert in ramen-making or just a mega connoisseur, buying them this gift set from Gjusta should be a no-brainer. This selection comes with two deep Charcoal ramen bowls, two wooden spoons, ten pairs of chopsticks, and two beautiful, waffle napkins - the perfect bundle for everything from ramen making at-home to transferring Daikokuya from a takeout container.

Festival De Mole Bundle, $32

Bless your loved ones with a rare festival of moles, made by the experts at Guelaguetza. Each bundle includes three different flavors - black, red, and Coloradito - but what your at-home chef uses it for, is completely up to them. The answer should probably be “everything,” though.

Kimbap Cooking Class, $60

If you’re looking for a gift that’s a little more hands-on, check out this virtual cooking class, taught by chef Eunjo Park. Over the course of two hours, you will learn everything you need to know to make your own kimbap at home, including basic cooking, rice seasoning, omelet-making, and spicy pork recipes, plus a Q+A and tasting at the end. Two sessions are available for this class, one on 12/16 and the other on 1/13. Also if you want to gift this to an Infatuation LA staff writer, you can… just to let you know.

‘Take Away Los Angeles’ Series ($20 per book)

1.5 Oz. Clown Shot Glass, $10.99

LOL, do we even need to explain this one? Didn’t think so.

Mini Lunch Truck, $45

Jaws hit the floor when Marisco Jalisco dropped a mini model of their iconic Boyle Heights taco truck. Or ours did, at least. Just look at it! The tiny, little wheels! The to-scale logo decal! Now if only each truck came with a few tacos de camaron… DM Marisco Jalisco’s Instagram to place an order.

Classic Cake, $110

Yes, $110 might seem like a lot for a dessert, but at Nunchi, cakes aren’t just cakes - they’re works of art. Just think of this as investing in a Rothko or Jackson Pollock… except it probably won’t last as long.

Gong Fu Tea Set, $96

Hand-painted and made by a husband and wife team in Jingdezhen (the ceramics capital of China), this bright, colorful set is perfect for breakfast, after-dinner, and you know, just general tea-sipping.

For Your Friend Who Buys All of Their Produce From Farmers Markets

Farmer’s Market Bundle, $25-$40

For Someone Cool Who You Are Desperate to Impress

Eating Sardines in Sardinia Tee, $35

Courage Bagels in Virgil Village might just be the coolest spot in Los Angeles right now, and they’ve got the merch to match - our favorite, being the “Eating Sardines in Sardina” tee, which comes with retro-style lettering and probably goes well with discussions on Foucault and, like, why living in Paris is their spiritual calling. Lol.

Now Serving

$$$$

Stock your friend’s wine cellar (or mini-fridge) with half a case, courtesy of Lolo’s Wine Bar in East Hollywood. Although their team is happy to mix-and-match based on your personal preferences, this will mostly be a dealer’s choice situation.

For the "Samantha" of the Group

This spot is Permanently Closed.

$$$$Perfect For:Late Night EatsLunch

Good Subs Tee, $30

OK, don’t tell the other items on this list, but this might just be our favorite shirt. Created by Downtown LA (and now East Hollywood) sandwich shop, E Stretto, this “Good Subs Only” tee (get it? Get it??) is perfect for anyone with a sense of humor… and maybe an interest in kink play?

Sweatshirt, $28

This sturdy and warm sweatshirt made by the historic rock n roll gay bar, Precinct, is sure to keep you - and a loved one - warm during the colder winter months. It comes in a pre-shrunk, classic fit, is made with an air-jet spun yarn for a softer feel, and its image is raised a little for “the whores who will take scissors to it.” Oops.

Kinky Adventure Wine Box, $75

Silver Lake wine and goods shop Vinovore has a ton of custom wine boxes, but this one is definitely the most… sensual. It includes all sorts of goods for anyone interested in a little exploration, like silicone handcuffs, a sexy truth or dare card game, natural lubricant, a sexual astrology book, and of course, a bottle of wine. And they say the perfect gift box doesn’t exist…

For Someone in Gen Z (Who Says They're Over Christmas)

Kill Your Masters Tee, $25

One of the sickest tees available on the market, Glendora coffee shop The Reverse Orangutan has released a “Kill Your Masters” shirt, which is now available for preorder. An amazing ’80s font, a super-cool mint green color, and a slightly menacing, completely mysterious all-seeing eye hovering above it all? It actually doesn’t even matter what generation this gift is for, it’s just that cool.
