Sure, you could boil some pasta shells, mix in a jar of sauce, and call it dinner, but why would you? Los Angeles has plenty of incredible Italian restaurants, and most of them are currently offering their entire menus for takeout and/or delivery. Even better, a few of LA’s most-exclusive spots are doing it for the first time. So put down the Prego and support one of these great spots instead. This list will be consistently updated.

This Silver Lake Italian spot is one of our favorites in the city - and it’s not just because of their excellent pasta. Their chicken Milanese sandwich is a perfect balance of crispy chicken, pepperoncini slaw, and prosciutto, and goes great with the chopped salad, a vinegary blend of chickpeas, salami, and peppers. That being said, the pasta is pretty damn good here - the radiatori with pork sugo and kale is our favorite, but you’ll be happy with whatever’s on the menu. Call for pick-up at (323) 928-2888, app delivery also available.

Angelini Osteria recently reopened for takeout in Beverly Grove, and is offering a large selection from their excellent Italian menu. This includes veal shank agnolotti, lasagna verde, and pumpkin ravioli, along with some new stuff, like pizza by the slice. App delivery available, along with takeout via their website.

A straightforward spot in Venice serving excellent, classic Italian food, Barrique is a great bet if you’re on the Westside. Their pastas are good - especially the linguine nere (squid ink spaghetti with lobster), but their meats are really what we’re all about here. There’s a wild boar pork chop with raspberry sauce, smoked duck, and dry-aged ribeye. Make sure you get some prosciutto and burrata, too. App delivery and takeout available.

A great special-occasion spot that normally doesn’t do takeout, Bestia is an ideal place to order in when you’re celebrating something big (in your living room). Their $49 to-go menu includes their killer house-cured salumi, spinach ricotta cavatelli, balsamic-braised wagyu short ribs, and more - seven dishes in all, served family-style. Make sure to reserve yours in advance, because much like a table at Bestia, these meals go fast.

The Bottle In in Hermosa Beach is a South Bay staple for family-style Italian food. So it makes sense that they’ve converted to an entire family style to-go menu, in trays for six-eight people, including chicken marsala, chicken parm with aglio e olio, and rigatoni with chicken, sun-dried tomatoes, and garlic-white wine sauce. They’ve also got a great selection of Italian wines for affordable prices. Curbside pick-up available via their website.

Though its sister Venice restaurant C&O Trattoria is closed, C+O Cucina is still serving Italian comfort food a block from Abbott Kinney. Some of our favorites here include the Killer Garlic Rolls (a dozen for $4.25), four cheese lobster mac & cheese, and some great chicken Marsala with spaghetti. Call (310) 301-7278, or order via their website for curbside pick-up or delivery.

This spot is Permanently Closed.

Cafe Birdie doesn’t fit strictly into any cuisine category, but it’s as much Italian as anything else. They’ve got hand-torn pasta with almond and basil pesto, house fennel sausage ragu, and a simple-but-great spaghetti pomodoro. Also, check out the (distinctly not Italian) Birdie Burger with fried onions, and the Moroccan-spiced fried chicken. Order via their site or call (323) 739-6928 for curbside pick-up, delivery, and takeout.

Cento is one of our favorite lunch spots in Downtown LA, serving high-end pastas from their tiny wine bar-style space. The bad news is that they’re not serving those pastas right now. The good news? They’re selling the next best thing: Bulk pasta and sauces, so you can make your own Italian feast at home. That means fresh braised beef ragu and amatriciana, with hand-rolled gnocchi. They’re also offering - for the first time - a porchetta sandwich that you should be extremely interested in. Takeout only.

Santa Monica’s Colapasta is a tiny handmade pasta spot in a commercial part of Fifth St. In addition to affordable pre-made pasta ($2 for 8 oz. packages), they’ve got family meals like a Bolognese supper that’s an absolute steal - it involves a pound of grass-fed beef Bolognese, tomato sauce, and two pounds of pasta for $24. And if nothing else can cheer you up right now, we suspect the solution might be a tray of their incredible lasagna ($59, feeds 6-8). In-store pick-up only, order via their website.

Are mozzarella sticks the most Italian dish on this guide? Of course not - but the ones from Cosa Buona are so good that we really don’t care. This spot in Echo Park also serves pizzas and salads that are highly worth seeking out in whatever delivery app you’re using. Order a Biancoverde (white pizza with ricotta, garlic, spinach and basil), a chopped salad, and those mozz sticks, and you’ll have enough food for lunch the next morning. App delivery and takeout available.

South Bay restaurant Eatalian Cafe might be even better for takeout and delivery than dining in. Because rather than stand in their massive space and get overwhelmed by the numerous options (pasta, pizza, an espresso bar, an entire gelato counter, etc), you can just scroll through them all online. We still recommend going overboard with your order, though - maybe a pizza (the Pizman with speck, porcini, and gorgonzola is our pick), some spinach tortellini with brown butter sage, and an amaretto gelato. Takeout or online delivery available via their website.

Eataly, the behemoth restaurant/grocery store/wine shop in the Westfield Century City is open for all your Italian food and drink-related needs. They’ve got a bunch of prepped antipasti, pastas, and pizzas, along with DIY pasta kits and Italian wines. The bucatini all’amatriciana is our favorite thing to order here, but just follow your gut, because the menu is massive. Delivery via apps, or in-store pick-up available.

Ellie’s is a Southern Italian spot in Long Beach that you should absolutely investigate, especially with their current takeout special. That involves a mix-and-match pasta deal with sauce, a Caesar salad, and garlic bread for $35. They’ve also got an entire lasagna for three or four people that we’d highly recommend if you’re feeding a whole family, and some off-menu options like Italian and meatball subs. App delivery and takeout available.

Felix is usually one of toughest places in town to nab a reservation, and doesn’t normally offer takeout. So that might make your meal from this Venice spot taste even better. Or maybe not, because their fresh pastas need zero help on that front - they’re absolutely fantastic. They’re serving pizzas, pasta kits for two (we recommend the duck ragu and the casarecce with sausage sugo), and, of course, their excellent budino. Takeout only.

Hippo isn’t exactly an Italian restaurant, but it is a restaurant that serves some of our favorite pasta in the city, so we won’t get caught up in semantics about it. In addition to serving dishes like fettuccine with pork ragu and butternut squash cappellacci (both of which you should order), this Highland Park spot has individual cocktails to-go for $9. We recommend the Hippo Old Fashioned, with spiced pear and walnut, but you won’t be disappointed by anything you order - especially if you order the cocktail five-pack. App delivery and takeout available.

A low-key strip-mall spot in El Segundo, Jame Enoteca serves the kind of soul-curing meals we need in particularly tough times. Focus on the salads - get the spicy Caesar (with Calabrian chilies) and what might be the world’s best kale salad - and any of their excellent, handmade pastas. Trust us when we say you can’t go wrong with them, but our favorites are the mushroom lasagna and the spicy rigatoni alla vodka. They’re also offering 40% off beer and wine, so be sure to stock up. App delivery and takeout available.

You were probably in LA for approximately three days before you heard about Jon & Vinny’s, the Italian-American spot on Fairfax serving remarkably excellent pastas and pizzas. Their spicy fusilli is the one constantly on Instagram feeds (for good reason), but that’s not the only pasta worth your time - get the rigatoni cacio e pepe, too, and add on some pizzas. Our favorites are the LA Woman (burrata, tomato, and basil) and the Ham & Yeezy (spicy peppers, red onions, and ham). App delivery and takeout available.

A Hollywood spot serving Neapolitan-style pizzas, L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele is serving their pizzas, sandwiches, and salads during quarantine. They’ve also got date night packages starting at $70 that include a cheese and meat plate, plus your choice of appetizer, pizza, and a dessert. Order delivery via their website, or call your order in at (323) 366-2408 for 20% off.

If you know one thing about Little Dom’s in Los Feliz, it’s probably their $25 Monday Night Supper. Well now, they’ve got a version of it every night (which is fitting, because literally every day feels like a Monday). The three-course menu constantly changes, but will include combinations like grilled artichoke, baked ziti, and rice pudding, or arancini, grilled local fish, and olive oil cake with berries. App delivery and takeout available.

There’s a good chance you’ve driven by Marino Restaurant a million times without noticing it - it’s been in a bungalow-style building in a residential part of Hollywood since the ’80s. Right now, they’re offering all kinds of prepped foods for you to make at home, from fresh pasta starting at $10/lb, to oxtail and bacon amatriciana sauce. And if you’re with a family (or have some space in your freezer), they’ve got affordable 12-serving trays of classic Italian-American comfort food like eggplant parm ($65) and lasagna ($90). Call for pick-up or free local Hancock Park delivery, delivery also available on most apps.

An excellent place for a family meal out in Santa Monica, Milo + Olive is just as good of a spot for ordering in. Their huge pizzas are big enough to feed two or three, and they’ve got pasta meal sets for three or four people that involve spaghetti and meatballs, alfredo and peas, and more. It’s going to be pretty hard to go wrong, especially if you order one of their absolutely addictive garlic knots per person. App delivery and takeout available.

There aren’t many personal pizzas as good as the ones from Hollywood’s Mozza2Go. They make pizzas with fantastic, high-quality ingredients, like prosciutto di Parma and rucola, and braised leeks with ’nduja. Our favorite, though, is the simple, bright-tasting Primavera pizza with peas, asparagus and ricotta. App delivery and takeout available.

If you’re looking for an excellent way to mix up your family meals this week, Osteria La Buca has exactly what you need. They’re offering family meals for two to six that are $15-25 per person, and include shared plates of chicken parm, pappardelle Bolognese, farm lettuce salads, and tiramisu. If you’re not looking to share, they’ve also got an a la carte menu of pizzas, pastas (get the short rib ravioli), and more. Make sure you add in a bottled gin martini for two, even if you’re alone. App delivery and takeout available.

Considering the original Pasta Sisters on Pico is approximately the size of a parking space, and has near-constant lines, it’s safe to say they’ve perfected the art of delivery and takeout. You can mix and match the pastas and sauces, choosing from fantastic, chewy, handmade pastas like spaghetti, penne, and tagliatelle, with rich-but-perfectly-balanced options like pesto, arrabiata, and black truffle butter. There are locations in Pico-Arlington and Culver City, so chances are that wherever you are, delivery won’t take too long. App delivery and takeout available.

Rossoblu is one of the most remarkable upscale Italian restaurants in Los Angeles, so it makes sense that it’s a pretty damn good place to get takeout, too. And if you’ve got some extra money for delivery, there aren’t many better options - you can get whole-grilled orata with olive pesto, a pork tomahawk served with house sausage, and a bunch of great house-made pastas. It’s also not often that you’re able to get their food this (relatively) affordably - meals for four run $100-$125 and include a main meat dish, multiple pastas, and vegetable sides. Note that you need 24 hours notice for these set meals. App delivery and takeout available.

Scopa Italian Roots, the Venice party spot, is offering a huge selection of their menu - plus cocktails and wine - for takeout. That means their incredible rice balls, along with pastas like cavatelli with Italian sausage, pappardelle with braised pork shank, and more. As far as cocktails go, we recommend going all-in on the Sierra Norte - mezcal, Aperol, and pineapple. They’ve also got grocery essentials, if you’re looking for those, too. Pick-up and app delivery available.

There’s having a speciality, and then there’s Secret Lasagna, the pop-up on Santa Monica Blvd. in Weho that only serves lasagna (plus two lasagna-complementing appetizers). Single servings are $11, and family-sized portions are $55, and you can either pick them up hot or order them to bake at home. They’ve got plenty of beer, wine, and liquor, too. Order delivery or pick-up via their website.

In a time when everyone needs a bit of comforting, Sunday Gravy serves food that’ll do just that. They’re serving Italian-American classics like fettuccine alfredo, linguini and clams, and spaghetti and meatballs out of their small space in Inglewood. Make sure you get some New York-style cheesecake, too. App delivery, or order through their website for pick-up.

If you live in Pasadena, you know about Union. But if you don’t, it’s time you learn - this Italian spot serves pastas worth driving for, even if you live in the farthest part of Marina del Rey. There’s an excellent carbonara/cacio e pepe mashup, a lasagna verde we have nightly dreams about, and a mushroom and polenta dish that may very well be our favorite thing on the menu. They’ve also got family meals for four around $60 that we highly recommend. App delivery and takeout available.

If you’re looking for something upscale on the Westside, Via Veneto has you covered. This classic Santa Monica spot is offering takeout for the first time, so take advantage of it. They’ve got some of the city’s best shrimp and calamari fritto misto, and you can’t go wrong with the beef carpaccio, or any of the ravioli (the lobster and zucchini is probably our favorite, though). App delivery or pick-up available.

Another great upscale spot on the Westside, Brentwood’s Vincenti Ristorante is also offering delivery for the first time. Their whole menu is available, so try some of our favorites: Paccheri with lobster and shrimp, bucatini all’amatriciana, and an absolutely tremendous rotisserie duck. We also highly recommend their Monday-only pizza night - get the Salsiccia, with housemade sausage, potatoes, and onions. App delivery available or pick-up available.
