6 Great To-Go Cocktail Spots, Since Bars Have Closed (Again)

LA bars shut down this weekend. Here are six of our favorite bars, restaurants, and wineries offering drinks to-go.

A little more than a week after being given the OK to reopen, LA bars were once again ordered to close over the weekend, due to California’s spike in new COVID cases. And while that means you can’t do tequila shots on the patio at The Bungalow anymore (not that you wanted to in the first place), you can still order some excellent cocktails, beer, and wine for delivery and pick-up. Here are six of our recent favorites.

An excellent Baldwin Hills spot that specializes in both pizza and Southern classics, Post & Beam is offering a bunch of to-go bottles of wine, beer, and liquor. What you’ll want to pay closest attention to, though, is their rotating Whiskey of the Week - a bottle of high-end whiskey that’s usually under $50. This week, it’s Uncle Nearest, a light-bodied blend that’ll go great with your jerk catfish and dirty rice. Pick-up and delivery available.

The Blending Lab is a new winery on West 3rd St. - and even though this recent order caused them to push back their July 10 grand opening, you can still get their wines at home. They specialize in - as you might have guessed - wine blends, like their 2017 ZSyPS, a zinfandel/syrah/petite syrah blend. All bottles are $32-$50, and they even have blend-your-own-wine kits. Free home delivery within five miles of their winery, and shipping through CA.

If you like mezcal, you’ll love Madre. This Oaxacan restaurant with locations in Torrance and Pams has the best mezcal selection in town, along with some killer classic cocktails like palomas, smokey margaritas, and seasonal fresh fruit margaritas (like guava and prickly pear). They’ve also got to-go mezcal flights, limited-release bottles, and a great selection of Valle de Guadalupe wines. Delivery or pick-up available.

Sunset Beer Co. might just be our favorite bottle shop in LA. This tiny Echo Park spot is open for pick-up, and has a tremendous selection of hard-to-find beers from places like Russian River, Fremont, and Societe Brewing. While the retail space is closed, you can order in advance online, or walk up and they can grab beers from the shelves for you. We recommend just telling them a budget and letting them choose their favorites - it’s a great way to find something new.

If you’ve never ordered from Boneyard Bistro, now is the time to change that - and not just because their BBQ is great. This Sherman Oaks spot also whips up some wholly original cocktails for pick-up and delivery. All cocktails are $45 for a four-person serving, and include the habañero-infused mezcal and rye-based Sympathy For The Devil, the boozy Cactus Cooler (which is like a rethought margarita with prickly pear), and a damn good mai tai. Curbside pick-up and delivery available.

If you’re looking for cocktail pick-up on the Westside, take a drive up to Malibu to get some curbside drinks at Carbon Beach Club. We’re not telling you to take your London Lemonade (Hendricks and fresh-squeezed lemonade) or Boulevardier down to drink on the beach, because Open Container laws still exist, but we promise not to say anything if you do. Curbside pick-up available.
