6 Exciting Things To Do & Eat Between November 17th - 21st
The last full weekend before the holiday season kicks into high gear is filled with pop-ups, neighborhood festivals, and more. Considering how jam packed your schedule already is starting next week, the time is now to be taking advantage of your dwindling free time.
The Events
Over the past year, Priedite BBQ has become one of the hottest names in California barbecue. In the event that you haven’t been able to get up to Los Alamos yet though, you’re in luck. This Sunday, November 21st they’re taking over the patio at Majordomo for one day only starting at 11am. Expect their famous brisket and beef fat tacos, plus short rib, pork belly, and pork shoulder served with ssam and ssamjang. It’s first-come, first-served, which means get there early or you probably aren’t getting any.
Vinovore is one of our favorite wine shops in LA, and this Saturday, November 20th they’re throwing a big opening day party at their brand new location on York Blvd. in Eagle Rock. The event runs from 4-7pm and will include small bites, beer and wine on the patio, and discounts on every bottle in the shop. If you need to refresh your wine stock before Thanksgiving, now’s your chance.
The Hip Hop Smoothie Shop is popping up this Saturday, November 20th at noon at Biddy Mason Park. The cultural and health initiative space will be celebrating the life and legacy of Biddy Mason, one of DTLA’s black pioneers, with an afternoon full of art, live music, and delicious smoothies. Donations of $10 or more are encouraged.
Hosted by The Gym Venice, this one-day event will take place this Saturday, November 20th from 3-8pm on Venice Blvd. in the heart of Mar Vista. The festival is a celebration of local small businesses and will feature local designers, artists, musicians, and food vendors, plus a full beer garden. A portion of all proceeds will be donated to Nourish LA, a non-profit focusing on food waste management and feeding communities.
This spot is Permanently Closed.
This Thursday, November 18th and Friday, November 19th, khemla will be popping up at Gamboge in Lincoln Heights from 5-9pm. The excellent Cambodian comfort food shop will be cooking up everything from seafood porridge and braised oxtail to banh januk, a mung bean custard with coconut cream, sweet ginger syrup, and toasted sesame. Walk-ins are welcome, but you can also order takeout through hotplate.
Chainsaw is opening up their garage again this Friday, November 19th for a ticketed seafood extravaganza from 6-9:30pm. The dinner will be a collaboration with Black Sheep All-American and will feature a Viet-Cajun-inspired crawdaddy boil. Drinks will also be New Orleans-style, so expect hurricanes, hand grenades, and to not be able to drive yourself home afterward. Prepare accordingly.
