Don’t look now, but we’re already coming up on another three-day holiday weekend. It’s great news for anyone still struggling to get back into the swing of things post-holidays, or if you’re just ready to get out there and have some fun. This week includes art shows, queer dance nights, a handful of new restaurant openings, and more.

In the mood to watch some horse racing this weekend? Head out to Santa Anita where Smorgasburg will be curating “Burgers and Brews” this Saturday, January 15th from 11:30am-4pm. The event will feature tons of local craft beers, plus burgers from Motz Burger, Love Hour, Evil Cooks, Say It Ain’t So, and Thicc Burgers. Tickets are available here.

This Wednesday, January 12th marks the return of Alejandro, the all-night dance party at Precinct in Downtown. The event is a collaboration with Cochinas and features queer and trans performers, plus music from the early 2000s. It’s a $10 entrance fee and doors open at 9pm, but be sure to bring some extra cash to tip the performers.

Despite everything, the last few weeks have seen a ton of high-profile restaurant openings in LA. This week alone there’s been the debut of the Korean cafe/restaurant Yangban Society in the Arts District, Koreatown’s Sake Bar By Joon, and the long-awaited return of Here’s Looking At You. If you’re comfortable dining out right now, these are spots we recommend prioritizing.

If you’re feeling a bit of malaise around the start of 2022, crank up the energy and head to Artmosphere this Saturday, January 15th. The immersive event Downtown runs from 7pm-midnight and will feature live music, art installations, and dance DJs, plus aerial and circus performers. Early bird tickets are $30 or it’s $50 at the door.

There’s a brand new Happy Hour in Beverly Grove and it’s a good one. Mr. Furley’s opened in December 2021 on W. 3rd St. and brought an awesome space with dartboards, a pool table, and a big front patio with it. But it’s the Happy Hour that has our attention. Running daily from 5-8pm, you get a free drink (including specialty cocktails) for every two that you buy. No matter what part of town you’re in, that’s as good of a deal as you’ll find in LA.

One of LA’s best and most popular food trucks has released their weekly schedule and they’re covering a ton of ground. All Flavor No Grease will be in South LA on Wednesday, January 12th, Thursday in Downey, Friday in Long Beach, and wrapping up the week in Culver City on Saturday and Sunday. Follow them on Instagram for all the details and to get their famous quesadilla in your life ASAP.
