5 Exciting Things To Do & Eat From December 8th-12th
We’re just as behind on buying gifts as you.Between the deluge of holiday parties, frantic online shopping, and the realization that your body can no longer digest eggnog, this stretch of December can feel like a blur. But before we know it, it’s going to be over. So take some time this week to relax and enjoy it. There’s a whole new crop of holiday markets to explore, the debut of an SGV food hall, and some of the final pop-ups of the year.
The Events
Holigay Market
Still need to get some gifts for people? Haven’t even started? Us too. Luckily, this Saturday, December 11th, Hot Donna’s Clubhouse is hosting a Holigay Market at Elysian Park. The event runs from 12-5pm and will feature games, live music, snacks, and over 30 queer, BIPOC, and Indigenous-owned vendors. Tickets are $7 with a portion of all proceeds going to @juniorhighla, a non-profit specializing in the safety of queer and BIPOC artists.
Naemo’s final event/pick-up of the year will be this Sunday, December 12th at the Helen J. Gallery in Hollywood. They’ll be selling hyang, an incense/tea/dessert pairing box designed and presented by several Korean American artists and makers. Each box is $98 and comes with three different pastries, three Korean teas, and three varieties of incense. Pre-order is available here.
This Saturday, December 11th, Kensho is hosting a holiday market inside their soon-to-open ryokan in the Arts District. The event runs from 11am-6pm and will feature artisanal gifts from local artists, sake and wine, mezcal tastings, and a sneak peek of the upcoming space. Entrance is free, but RSVP here.
Blossom Marketplace Hall
Blossom Market Hall, a new food market located in San Gabriel, is opening this Thursday, December 9th. The grand opening party will run all day and feature t-shirt giveaways, live music at night, and of course, lots of delicious food. The 13-vendor market features everything from wine bars to small-batch ice cream shops to one of our favorite pop-ups in town, Caribbean Gourmet.
Coffee Tasting
Fika G’Noto, an LA-based coffee shop and philanthropic organization, is hosting a global coffee tasting event this Saturday, December 11th from 10am-12pm. Tickets are $30 and include seven coffees from around the world and also come with a food pairing. The event is being held at the Engel & Volkers Conference Room in West Hollywood.
