And just like that, it’s 2022. (Yes, that is a nod to whatever the f*ck is happening on the Sex And The City reboot.) Anyway, it’s a brand new year and that means we have 12 new months to get out there and eat/experience the best things this city has to offer. Yes, everyone is exhausted after the holidays, but we encourage you to power through it. Below you’ll find tons of restaurant reopenings, various pop-ups, and the return of the biggest food festival in LA.

After a three-week holiday hiatus, Smorgasburg is back Sunday, January 9th from 10am-4pm in the Arts District. The first edition of 2022 will feature five new vendors, including Korean fried chicken sandwiches from Chimmelier, Cali Dumpling, and Philly water ice shop Happy Ice. Entry is free, but no pets are allowed.

If you heard a low, joyous yelp earlier this week, it was us reading about how one of our favorite pop-ups, Little Fish, is doing a month-long residency at one of our favorite bars, Checker Hall. The fried fish specialist will be popping up every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night in January with a full menu–including brand new items–and wine by Kae Whalen.

Though it’s technically happening next Tuesday, January 11th, the Mixplate pop-up at All Day Baby in Silver Lake is worth putting on your calendar now. The Hawaiian specialist will be serving everything from mochiko chicken in a maple glaze to tuna tataki with chili sauce. As always, All Day Baby will be providing the adult libations.

After closing on December 22nd because of the recent COVID-19 surge, the popular Highland Park dinner spot will reopen on Wednesday, January 5th for full service. Expect excellent cocktails and a menu filled with pastas, fresh vegetables, and BBQ pork ribs. Snag a reservation here.
