5 Exciting Things To Do & Eat In LA Over Labor Day Weekend
The best events during the holiday weekend.Sure, temperatures might be in the triple digits this weekend, but it’s officially September, and that means we can at least pretend it’s fall. And that feels like a major accomplishment this year. Here are the most exciting ways to ring in the holiday weekend—and the imaginary changing of seasons.
THE EVENTS
CHECK OUT A BEACH PARTY
Now in its 51st year, Fiesta Hermosa returns this weekend in Hermosa Beach. The massive festival, which runs September 3rd-5th, includes four different music stages, 250+ street vendors, beer gardens, a food fair, and an entire carnival area. Considering how much there is to see, you’ll need every second of those three days. The event is free to the public.
LOAD UP ON TACOS
This Thursday, September 1st, Gogo’s Tacos in East Hollywood is celebrating their one-year anniversary with $1 tacos all day long (8am-8pm). The special applies to any regular taco and is available for both dine-in and takeout. As always, 20% of all Gogo’s proceeds is donated to the Juan Carlos Cantoni Foundation, which supports transition-age youth.
MELT WITH SOME PATTY MELTS
We’re all going to be sweating this weekend, so you might as well lean into it and head over to Goldburgers where patty melts (topped with griddled onions and Russian sauce) will be $3 off all week. The special is available at both their Los Feliz and Highland Park location.
DO SOME POOLSIDE SHOPPING
We have a hunch a lot of people will be eating and drinking by the pool this weekend, but shopping? That’s available too at Vintage Market in The Hollywood Roosevelt. The two day event runs Saturday, September 3rd and Sunday, September 4th from 10am-5pm and will feature dozens of sustainable designers and brands. This event is free, but if you want to make a reservation at the poolside restaurant, do that separately.

CATCH A GAME
This weekend is the official start of college football season, which means every fan has one thing in common right now: hope. Go celebrate at one of these great LA sports bars, which includes Pijja Palace, an excellent Indian pizza parlor in Silver Lake. We’re hoping things go well for your team, but if they don’t, there’s always a margarita or martini around the corner to make you feel better.
