Happy Halloween, friends. One of the biggest party weekends in LA is upon us, meaning no matter what kind of fun you want to get into—or not get into—you will find it. It also means finding the right event for your interests can be a little…tricky (pun intended). Here are five events we’re particularly excited to check out.

DANCE ON A ROOFTOP
There's no shortage of dance parties happening this weekend, but if you want to do it on a rooftop, go to Desert 5 Spot. The Hollywood rooftop bar is hosting four Wild West themed parties this week starting Thursday, October 27th through Sunday, October 30th. Each night will include live music and DJs, carnival games, costume contests, and something called cowboy karaoke.
GO TO THE BALL
The biggest queer party of the weekend is undoubtedly The Halloween Ball at Globe Theater DTLA. The two-night event (Friday, October 28th and Saturday, October 29th) will feature three different levels of music, live performances, immersive art, and appearances by some of the biggest name in drag and queer artistry. That includes Symone, Trixie Mattel, and Kornbread Jete. General admission starts at $40.
SOMETHING FAMILY-FRIENDLY
If you’re looking for some family-friendly fun that doesn’t involve hoofing it door-to-door begging for candy, head over to the Halloween Festival at Studio City Rec Center. The daytime festivities run from 2:30-6:30pm and will feature face paintings, costume costumes, free candy, arts and crafts, prizes, and more. This event is free to the public.
HEAD TO THE ORCHESTRA
Looking for something a bit unexpected this Halloween? How about listening to a 40-piece orchestra? Back by popular demand, the LA Opera Orchestra will perform the soundtrack to 1931’s Frankenstein live at the Theater At The Ace Hotel while the movie is screened in the background. Shows are this Friday, October 28th and Saturday, October 29th at 8pm and tickets are available here.
DO A PUB CRAWL
This weekend marks the 5th annual Santa Monica Pub Crawl—an event we guarantee is messy and fun as it sounds. It’s all going down this Saturday, October 29th from 4pm-12am with stops at over seven bars, each with their own drink and food specials. Individual tickets are $25, but they include three drink (or shot) vouchers. Check-in begins at 4pm at Cabo Cantina in Santa Monica.
