For however long it took August to be done, September seemed to fly by—and we aren’t complaining. This weekend marks the beginning of October and that means scary season is upon us. Grab those 15 tiny pumpkins you’ve been eyeing at the grocery store, hang fake cobwebs everywhere, and check out these exciting events.

SLURP SOME NOODLES

This Saturday, October 1st, Smorgasburg is hosting their first annual NoodleFest at Santa Anita Park. The event runs from 12-4:30pm and will feature a curated line-up of some of LA’s most popular noodles specialists. That includes pad thai from Rad Na Silom, garlic lobster noodles from Lobsterdamus, and the return of cult favorite Starry Kitchen and their stir-fried ramen noodles. Admission starts at $38 and includes one entree, one beer, free parking, and a $5 betting voucher.

FAMILY-FRIENDLY FALL STUFF

Out in Moorpork, Underwood Farms is back with their 25th annual Fall Harvest Festival beginning this Saturday, October 1st. The festival runs through all of October, but if you plan on going on a weekend, be sure to grab a ticket in advance, as this is one of the most popular family-friendly events in SoCal. Each weekend has a different theme and admission includes wagon rides, corn mazes, pumpkin patches, pig races, live bands, and more.

CELEBRATE THE LGBTQIA+ COMMUNITY

Eszett in Silver Lake will be hosting an LGBT night Monday, October 3rd from 5-10pm. The night will feature a curated wine list from Roni Selects, speed dating, on-site therapists, plus Eszett’s excellent seasonal menu. Reservations are suggested, but not required.

GET YOUR ITALIAN ON

October is Italian American Heritage month, and this weekend, head up to Hollywood and HIghland for the Los Angeles Italian Festival. The all-day event (12-10pm) runs from Saturday, October 1st through Sunday, October 2nd, and will feature dozens of various food vendors, dance lessons, live opera singers, local artisans, and more. Tickets are $5.

HIT UP A NIGHT MARKET

There’s rarely a shortage of night markets to check out in LA and this weekend we’re excited about the DTLA Weekenders’ Night Market. The three-day event runs from Friday, September 30th to Sunday, October 2nd and will feature dozens of multicultural street food vendors, beverage stands, and dessert shops. Admission is free.

CHECK OUT A POP-UP

Echo Park arcade bar Button Mash has reopened after shutting down during the pandemic and just released a full lineup of guest chef collaborations and pop-ups for the month of October. The roster includes pizza from Long Beach’s Little Coyote, pastrami from The Bad Jew, Pearl River Deli, and more. Keep an eye on their Instagram for the latest.
