We don’t want to jinx anything, but we’re pretty sure there’s a slight crisp in the air, and that’s reason enough to celebrate all the fall activities happening around town. This week we’re excited about patio parties, vegan street fairs, weiner dog races, and more.
GET TIPSY AT OKTOBERFEST
If you can’t make it to Munich this month, Benny Boy Brewing in Lincoln Heights is hosting its own Oktoberfest this weekend. The three-day event runs from Friday, October 7th through Sunday, October 9th and will feature live polka bands, stein-holding competitions, and pop-ups from River Street BBQ, Shappy Pretzels, and more. Sunday is a full Re:Her take-over with women-owned vendors, panels, and weiner dog races. Wear lederhosen and get $1 off steins.
HIT UP A PATIO PARTY
One of our favorite pandemic pop-ups, Happy Mediums Deli, is making its return to LA this Saturday, October 9th at Verdugo Bar in Glassell Park. It’s all going down from 12-5pm and will also feature desserts from Almond Milk Maiden, coffee from Lip Service, and music curation from Bad Girl Dance Party.
THE RETURN OF A STREET FAIR
After a two-year hiatus, Vegan Street Food Nights is returning to North Hollywood this weekend. The two-day event runs Saturday, October 8th and Sunday, October 9th from 3-10pm and will feature over 200 vegan vendors (including ones from Texas, New York, and Nevada), live entertainment, beer gardens, carnival rides, and more. General admission is free, but various VIP ticket packages include priority passes and swag bags.
GET COZY AT FIRE NIGHT
Melody in Virgil Village has long been one of LA’s best pop-up curatorsy, but this month the neighborhood wine bar is doing something different: "Fire Nights." The wood-fire cooking series runs every Monday in October, and will feature a $125 per person tasting menu, an outdoor chef’s counter, and curated wines—all at a private location in Eagle Rock. The current calendar includes chefs from De La Nonna, Malli, and Kinkan. DM for details.
This Sunday, October 9th marks the return of the annual streetwear and food festival Family-Style. On top of various brand activations, the event will also feature LA restaurants like Mother Wolf, Moo’s, and Broad Street Oyster. The festival goes from 12-8pm at CBS Studios and general admission is $60, which does not include food.
