Spooky season is in full swing, but if getting intentionally scared in public isn’t on your to-do list, don’t stress. There are tons of other exciting events around town this week, including shrimp festivals, Caribbean food crawls, and more.

DIG INTO SOME SHRIMP

This Saturday, October 22nd, San Pedro Fish Market is hosting their 2nd annual ShrimpFest. The event runs from 12-6pm and will feature live entertainment, prizes, and even a shrimp eating contest. Guests will also be able to take advantage of drink and food specials throughout the day, like $3 Coronas and a $30 shrimp tray that feeds up to four people. Tickets for the event are $5 and all proceeds go to the Surfrider Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to the protection of the world’s oceans.

CELEBRATE LATINA FEST

LatinaFest is back this Saturday, October 22nd for their fourth annual event celebrating and amplifying Latina voices in the community. The all-day event—it goes from 11am-6pm—will feature fashion shows, cocktail gardens, yoga classes, food trucks, live art shows, a kids area, and much more. General admission is $10, but VIP packages that include merch and early access go up to $126.

There’s something for everyone at Rocktober, an outdoor festival happening this Saturday, October 22nd down Main Street in Santa Monica. That includes al fresco dining, live music stages, beer gardens (with free tastings), kids areas, outdoor movies, and even a pet costume contest. The event is free to the public, but entrance into the drinking areas is $15.

CRASH A BIRTHDAY PARTY

The Brig is one of Venice’s most enduring dive bars and this weekend the classic drinking hole is going big for its 70th birthday. The party runs the entire day from 2pm-2am and will include live bands and DJs, complimentary tattoos, and a special Happy Hour from 2-4pm where all well drinks are 70 cents. Proceed accordingly.
