We probably don’t need to remind you, but next weekend is Christmas and beyond that is New Year’s Eve. Then suddenly, we’ll be coming to you live from 2023. It’s a busy time for all, which is why we recommend finding time to take a break and appreciate it. Here are the most exciting holiday events in LA this week.
TAKE A COOKING CLASS
This Sunday, December 18th, Chef Danielle from Amiga Amore will be teaching a tamale making class from 1-3pm at Benny Boy Brewing in Lincoln Heights. Tickets are $100, which includes all baking/cooking supplies, tamales to take home, and a beer or cider after class.
CHECK OUT A FOOD FAIR
The inaugural Munchies Block Party is happening this Sunday, December 18th. It’s billed as the world’s first cannabis and food fair with dozens of non-cannabis food vendors selling everything from pizza to vegan tacos, live music, clothing boutiques, and various cannabis brands. This is a 21+ event and runs from 11am-6pm. Tickets for entry are $3.
PLAN A MEAL
If you have zero interest in cooking up a storm during the holidays this year, don’t worry. There are excellent restaurants across LA that are open and serving Christmas Day dinner. Or maybe you just want to have a meal somewhere that really embraces the holiday spirit. Here are our favorite spots to eat and drink while feeling the cheer.
LAST MINUTE SHOPPING
We don’t mean to stress you out, but if you haven’t started your holiday shopping yet, you might be in some trouble—but not totally out of luck. There are several pop-up Christmas markets going down this weekend, including the Holiday Market at The Hollywood Roosevelt and BLVD’s annual Holiday Market in Montebello. Both include vendors, food, live music, and more.
A MACABRE CHRISTMAS
For many people, the cheeriness of the holiday season can be overwhelming. If you’re looking for a breather, check out the Krampus Cove cocktail pop-up at Lost Property in Hollywood. The event runs from Tuesday-Sunday with two seatings a night, and will honor the legend of Krampus with spooky drinks, evil elves, and an appearance from the half-demon himself. The event is 21+ and tickets are $25, which includes a free welcome drink and live entertainment.
