Pop-ups, a beer festival, and more.

From Hollywood jazz clubs and dumpling pop-ups, to the return of the beer festival, this week has a lot going on. Here are the events we’re most excited about.

THE EVENTS

EAT SOME DUMPLINGS

This Saturday, April 2nd and Sunday, April 3rd, Woon Kitchen will be popping up at Brain Dead Studios across the street from Fairfax High School. Running each day from 12-4pm, the collaborative menu will feature dishes like chewy beef noodles, orange chicken wings, and dumplings in chili sauce. Everything is first come, first served, so we recommend getting there early before they sell out.

CHECK OUT A JAZZ CLUB

Sure, LA will never be New Orleans when it comes to jazz music, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t great places to experience it here. Take Herb Alpert’s, an upscale ballroom in Bel-Air where suit jackets and floor-length evening gowns are the preferred uniforms or The Baked Potato, a classic dive bar in Universal City that only serves—you guessed it—baked potatoes. We suggest getting tickets in advance.

GO ON A GLENDALE KEBAB CRAWL

Glendale is home to one of the largest Armenian populations outside of Armenia, and that means when it comes to finding great kebabs, your options are almost limitless. Crawl through the neighborhood this weekend using this guide and decide which spots are your favorite. Or you can check out all the other excellent restaurants the area has to offer.

HIT UP A NEW RESTAURANT

We all hit walls sometimes with the restaurants we love. If you’re looking to change things up this weekend, check a brand new restaurant instead. This weekend marks the return of Pearl River Deli, with a grand opening this Thursday, March 31st at their new Chinatown location. Expect an incredible menu filled with dishes like spicy mapo ramen, wonton soup, and their legendary Hainan chicken

DRINK LOCAL BEER

This Saturday, April 2nd marks the 14th annual LA Beer Festival. The event will be located at LA Center Studios near Downtown and will feature over 200 kinds of craft beer from 80 different breweries, plus food trucks, live music, DJs, and more. General admission is $50, which includes unlimited samples, but the $90 “Connoisseur Ticket” gets you access to a VIP lounge, rare beers, and plenty of swag.
