Feature
The smoke has (mostly) cleared from Monday’s fireworks and the summer season is heating up. If you’re wondering what to do after a long holiday weekend, we’ve got some suggestions: flea markets, Pride parades, lantern festivals, and more.
THE EVENTS
CHECK OUT A LANTERN LAUNCH
This weekend marks the 41st annual LA Lotus Festival at Echo Park Lake. The event runs Saturday, July 9th and Sunday, July 10th from 12-9pm and will feature a children’s area, food court, boat races, gift bazaar, and nightly “Lights Of Dreams” lantern launches.
A COLLAB FOR GOOD
This Thursday, July 7th, Soon Wine Bar is teaming up with Bodega Park in Silver Lake for a special one-night collaboration featuring deli sandwiches and select wines from 6-11pm. Most importantly, 5% of all sales will be donated to abortion funds through Arc Southeast, with an angel donor matching the night’s donations by 200%.
PRIDE IN JULY
The calendar might read July, but one of the biggest Pride festivals in California is happening this weekend. The 39th Annual Long Beach Pride is going down Saturday, July 9th and Sunday, July 10th and will feature a full parade, plus a festival area featuring art installations, a roller rink, silent discos, and a family-friendly area. While you’re there, be sure to check out one of the many excellent restaurants in the area.
FLEE TO A FLEA
It’s the second Sunday of the month this weekend and that means LA’s biggest and best flea market is taking over the Rose Bowl. The event runs from 9am-3pm and features over 2,500 vendors, plus multiple food vendors. General admission is $12, but if you want to wake up early, $20 VIP tickets will get you in the door at 5am.
LISTEN TO NEW MUSIC
One of our favorite bars in The Valley, Simple Bar, is hosting their monthly Beats, Freaks, Geeks this Sunday, July 10th from 8pm-1am. The event will feature an array of upcoming artists, musicians, and producers, plus excellent house cocktails, wine, and beer.
