Summer is approaching, let's celebrate.

Is everybody ready for summer? Because we have news—it’s Bc ›coming. This weekend marks the beginning of May, which means attending pool parties, planning picnics, and sweating next to your AC window unit is, once again, a reality. Here are some events to help welcome in the new season.

CATCH AN OUTDOOR MOVIE

One of LA’s most popular outdoor movie series, Street Food Cinema, is returning for their 11th season this Saturday, April 30th. The featured movie will be Spider Man: No Way Home, but if you don’t consider yourself a superhero movie kind of person, there will also be a live band, food trucks, an MC, and a full bar as well. General admission is $19, but if you want to reserve seats, we recommend splurging for the $25 tickets. Doors open at 5:30pm.

EAT FOR A GOOD CAUSE

On Saturday, April 20th, PATH is hosting their very first food festival, Taste Of Home, at the Sunset Las Palmas Studios in Hollywood. The event runs from 3-7pm and will feature live entertainment, cooking demonstrations, and tons of food vendors like Madre, Broad Street Oyster Co., and Hotville Chicken. The best part, however, all proceeds from the festival go towards supportive services for our neighbor's experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles. General admission is $45.

HANG OUT ON A PATIO

Maybe it was the 90 degree temperatures (OK, it was definitely the 90 degree temperatures), but summer feels pretty much upon us. And that’s why you’ll catch us on one of the best new patios in town this weekend. There’s everything from Downtown rooftops and Eastside beer gardens to poolside brunch spots in Beverly Grove.

MEET SOME NEW PEOPLE

The inclusive monthly dance party, Heart Throb LA, is taking over The Normandie Club in Koreatown this Thursday, April 28th. The event starts at 8pm and will feature a live DJ set, no cover, a dance floor, indoor and outdoor seating, and a ton of queer joy. If you get hungry, there are plenty of nearby spots for late-night food.
