Tuyo is a new Spanish-Mediterranean place on Broadway Market where you can hang out with a few plates of tapas. The chef used to work at the legendary Spanish restaurant Salt Yard, and the food’s good - get the blue cheese and date croquettes, and the halloumi, which comes with beets and little pieces of mandarin. The wine here is also very affordable, and there’s a 2-for-1 happy hour with solid cocktails, which makes the restaurant perfect for a date or a group dinner. We wouldn’t go out of our way to eat here, but it’s a great place to add to the mix if you live in the area or want a proper sit-down when you visit the market.

Hill & Szrok on Broadway Market is a butchers by day, but at night they fire up the grill to cook some pretty good steaks and chops.
Jolene is a bakery, café, and restaurant on Newington Green serving very nice, very grainy, very wholesome breakfast, lunch and (on some days) dinner.
Cornerstone is a classy but casual seafood restaurant in Hackney Wick. It’s a place that’s worth shelling out for, if only once.
