Remember that movie The Girl Next Door? Neither do we. But we do know that having a restaurant like Naughty Piglets open nearby would be kind of like having peak Elisha Cuthbert move in down the road. In other words, it’s a brilliant neighbourhood place that any community would be chuffed to have.

Naughty Piglet serves sharing plates of creative French food paired with natural wines, and it’s the sort of food that will impress a date and make your mouth happy. What we love the most about this place, though, is the intimate atmosphere and genuinely friendly service that so many restaurants just can’t seem to figure out. Even if you’ve dragged yourself from Crouch End to eat here, they’ll make you feel like you’re part of the neighbourhood. Order the creme caramel for dessert.

Boqueria is a neighbourhood tapas restaurant that you could confidently take a Spaniard to. The suckling pig and daily seafood specials are great.

The Canton Arms is a lovely gastropub in Lambeth that still feels like an old school boozer. Come for a drink and stay for a toastie, or more.
