Anytime we visit Morny Bakehouse, the tempting selection of golden pastries and mango-filled doughnuts in the glass counter has us racking up a bill. At this sunny takeaway-only Leyton bakery, you can get anything from a buttery croissant, to a hazelnut babka, or vanilla soft serve in a doughnut. There’s only enough space for a couple of people inside at a time, and this go-to pastry stop-off often has a short queue of locals waiting outside to get their hands on a cruffin. With equal amounts of creamy, not-too-sweet filling to sugar-dusted pastry, these are the best we’ve had in London. Exciting flavour combinations like whipped vanilla cheesecake, banana dulce de leche, and roast walnut are all excellent—but if you’re only getting one, go for the dulce. And—if it's on—don’t you dare leave before trying the Solero-tasting mango custard-filled doughnut.
