We like to hit this Indian place up when we’re pretending that we’re being a bit healthy, as we often conveniently forget that ‘vegetarian’ isn’t the same as ‘healthy’. Even if you’re not familiar with half the menu (Indian street food dishes like papdi chaat and pau bhaji), rest assured that it’s all excellent and it’ll just mean you can eat more free salami samples later on.

Santo Remedio is a Mexican restaurant that graduated from Shoreditch food truck to a permanent space in London Bridge. Fun bar, average food.
Hutong is the Shard’s ultra-swish Chinese restaurant, and if we were going to throw down on a pricey dinner with a view, this would be on our list.

Bombay Bustle is more formal than your local curry house but not at all stuffy, even though it’s in Mayfair.
Dum Biryani is a Indian restaurant in a Soho basement. It’s actually a lot more fun than it sounds, and besides the biryani don’t miss the starters.
Thanks to a lovely verandah and excellent views, the Shoreditch branch of modern Indian restaurant Dishoom is one of our favourites.
