We respect restaurants that have simple, straightforward names. If it works for Heinz baked beans, it’ll work for Gourmet Pizza Co., a great little pizza spot on the South Bank. This cosy and casual pizzeria has been the setting of mates’ and dates’ meals for over 25 years and the covered Thames-view terrace is prime real estate for a sentimental, or smug, ‘I live in London’ moment. Outside of the covered outdoor seating, you can expect homely classics like lasagne and calamari, but really you’re here for the long list of freshly prepped and baked pizzas. We’re talking a hot honey and gran milano meat fest, a mushroom and pine nut number with excellent crunch factor, and the fiery chilli Manzo that comes with perfectly roasted peppers. If it’s sunny, a bottle of wine should also be on your order for peak Capri feels.
