Donutelier by Roladin

We’ve loved doughnuts ever since we had our first raspberry-filled, sugar-covered bite from Greggs on the bus home from school. Something we’ve learned since then, is that often the more extravagant the piping work and the more Willy Wonka-esque the name, the more disappointing. Donutelier, a doughnut shop and cafe in Covent Garden, makes some beauty pageant-winning doughnuts that are style over substance. You’ll be tempted by a Shrek-green pistachio doughnut only to cringe at how sweet it is. Flavours like vanilla cookie cream sounds and looks like an Oreo-lover’s dream, but require a jug of water to wash down the coating of sugar you’ll have on your tongue afterwards. Starting at £5.50 a doughnut, you’ll probably wish you went to Greggs. If only Greggs had the same pastel pink interiors and tables to perch on.
