Located in the epic lobby of the new Ned hotel, Cecconi’s is a posh Italian restaurant that has the business lunch crowd locked down. It’s the second London site of the restaurant in Mayfair that’s a favourite with the oligarch and poorer rich people crowd (so, celebrities then) but here, it’s all about the suits and City folk. Most people who visit the hotel work in the area, and it’s one of the swankier options in what’s already a pretty plush situation. The lineup of pastas is solid and they’ll do you a good calamari, but don’t expect to still be talking about what you ate the next day. The overall experience is totally pleasant, but this is more convenient business lunch location than it is destination dining.

Shoryu is one of the most reliable and convenient spots in London to get a good bowl of ramen. The Liverpool Street location has outdoor seating, too.

Palatino is a slick Italian restaurant in Clerkenwell with good pastas and sharing plates. Make sure you get the fried sage leaves.
Trullo is the kind of neighbourhood Italian restaurant you’d find in an actual Italian neighbourhood, and the food is simply fantastic.
Gloria is the restaurant equivalent to a night that ends with a broken Louboutin. It’s daft, it’s delicious, and it’s downright fun.
